A new month is quickly approaching, and that means Stadia Pro subscribers are itching to know which games will be free to claim in February. Like previous months since Stadia launched, it appears that gamers will be treated to two additional titles.
Over the weekend, The Verge published survey results revealing that the majority of game studios are actively prioritizing content for next-generation gaming hardware (PC, mobile, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X) over cloud-based platforms. Even more alarming, only 6 percent of respondents expressed interest in Stadia. Although this metric sounds bleak for Google’s game streaming efforts, there is a silver lining that reveals initial developer interest may actually be in good shape.
With the vast majority of the Stadia experience existing in the intangible cloud, the official Stadia app is integral to pairing a Stadia Controller with a Chromecast Ultra, managing friends lists, and even streaming mobile content while on the go. This week, the Stadia app for Android and iOS received its first major update of the year, bumping the version number from 1.46 to 2.2.
Although Stadia is a relatively young brand with a lot to prove to the gaming community, its proprietor, Google, has developed a rich network of business partnerships over the last 20 years. To help grow Stadia’s early userbase, Verizon announced this week that it is teaming up with Google to offer free Stadia Pro subscriptions to some of its Fios customers.
Today, Stadia’s social media accounts announced that all Stadia Founder’s Edition’s have completely sold out. Stadia’s Twitter and Facebook both said “That’s a wrap! Stadia Founder’s Edition has completely sold out. We can’t wait to welcome all of our Founders to play Stadia on November 19.” The news come after the sell out of founders editions in Europe (including the UK) .
